Over 200 physical therapists, physical therapist assistants and students are expected to attend the 2012 PT Legislative Day! During this event you will learn about bills in the legislature that have a direct impact on your profession. You will receive outstanding advice on advocacy from our seasoned lobbyist and public relations firm. You will meet with legislators and their staff members who represent your home cities. And most of all, you will experience first-hand what a strong grassroots advocacy program can do!

Programming will begin with a discussion of CPTA's legislative priorities in 2012 followed by a presentation on "The In's and Out's of Government Affairs". Participants will learn about bills in the legislature that have a direct impact on the PT profession. Participants will receive outstanding advice on advocacy from our seasoned lobbyist. Attendees will meet with legislators and their staff members who represent their home cities. And most of all, everyone will experience first-hand what a strong grassroots advocacy program can do to promote the PT profession.

This course is open to all CPTA members including licensed physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and physical therapy students.
Speaker BiosJames Syms, PT, DSc, ATC, SCS
is CPTA President and Board Liaison to the CPTA Government Affairs Committee. Dr. Syms is in his tenth year of service on the committee having served as Chairperson from 2007-2010. Dr. Syms remains active in promoting the importance of advocacy for the physical therapy profession and has lectured at multiple events including UOP Student Legislative Day and CPTA PT Legislative Day.Stacy DeFoe
is CPTA Executive Director. Named Executive Director in 2007, Mrs. DeFoe has been employed with CPTA for over nine years. Actively involved in CPTA Government Affairs she continues to play an integral role in the advocacy efforts of the association.James Dagostino, PT, DPT
currently serves as Chairperson to the CPTA Government Affairs Committee. Mr. Dagostino has served as a member of the committee since 1991 and previously held the position of Chairperson from 1991-2004. Carl London
